Dr. John Smith earned his B.S. degree in Zoology from the University of Florida in 1971 and his D.D.S. degree in 1975 from Emory University. Graduating first in his dental class earned him the distinguished Alpha Omega Scholastic Award and membership into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Scholastic Society.
Perhaps the most notable achievement in Dr. Smith’s career came after he received his Master’s Degree in Orthodontics (M.S.D.) from the University of Washington. His graduate work in implantology gained him the coveted Milo Hellman International Research Award presented each year by the American Association of Orthodontists for the most outstanding orthodontic research.
Dr. Smith has lectured extensively throughout the world on many orthodontic topics. He has published numerous professional articles on various orthodontic appliance systems, practice management, improving staff relations and treatment protocols to improve the orthodontic process. As a consultant for Ormco, one of the world’s largest orthodontic manufacturing companies, he has been instrumental in the development of individualized computer designed braces and clear aligners to give patients a beautiful smile in less time and fewer office visits. That is something to smile about!
While away from the pediatric office, Dr. Smith enjoys spending time with his two grown children and two grandchildren. His hobbies include exercising, fishing, traveling and reading.
