Dr. Carlos Bertot was born and raised in South Florida and graduated from Christopher Columbus High School in Miami. He attended the University of Miami, majoring in Biology. Dr. Bertot received his dental degree from the University of Florida, College of Dentistry in 1992. During his senior year there, he received the Florida Academy of Pediatric Dentistry’s Senior Award for most outstanding student of that discipline.
Dr. Bertot went on and spent two years at the University of Kentucky in Lexington. There, he completed his specialty training in Pediatric Dentistry. He has been in private practice in Maitland since 1994 and achieved Board Certification soon thereafter being awarded the status of Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry in 1996.
Today, Dr. Bertot continues to appreciate and feel honored to provide dental care to Central Florida’s children. He also works closely and in conjunction with other healthcare providers within a local Cleft Palate and Craniofacial team and helps treat children with facial deformities and their distinctive dental needs. He is on staff at Florida Hospital and is a member of numerous professional organizations, most notably the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry, the Florida Dental Association and the American Dental Association. Always involved with organized dentistry, he is proud to be a past president of the Florida Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and Board Director for the Dental Society of Greater Orlando. Nationally, he is a spokesperson for the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Bertot and his wife Cecile have three children. When away from the office, Dr. Bertot enjoys family time, fitness and travel.
Dr. Kelly Mansour was born in Hollywood, FL and raised in a small town in North Florida named Starke. She eventually moved to Cocoa, FL where she was named Valedictorian of Rockledge High School in 2000. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition at the University of Florida. During her undergraduate studies at Florida, she was the university’s female mascot, “Alberta”, for four years. As “Alberta”, she participated in a variety of sporting events including away games, SEC championships and bowl games as well as countless charity and community events. She was inducted into the University of Florida’s Hall of Fame in 2004 for her academic excellence and leadership.
She continued her studies at the University of Florida, College of Dentistry, where she received her doctorate in dental medicine. During her senior year, she was awarded the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Predoctoral Student Award for great promise in the field of pediatric dentistry and the Dr. E.A. Crosby Scholarship Award for outstanding community service. She completed her pediatric dental training at the University of Florida in 2010 and received board certification in 2011. Dr. Mansour is on staff with Florida Hospital and is currently a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry, Florida Dental Association and the American Dental Association.
Dr. Mansour loves spending time with her husband, David, and visiting with family and friends. During football season, you can catch her wearing orange and blue and cheering for the Florida Gators!
Dr. Alma Correia was born in Southern California but was raised in North Providence, Rhode Island. She attended Bay View Academy for high school and was involved in many extracurricular activities ranging from basketball and cross country running to singing in the school’s musical productions. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Tufts University where she double majored in Child Development and Community Health. It was during college that she met her husband, Dennis.
Dr. Correia received her dental degree from New York University. Her most memorable experience at NYU was when she traveled to Grenada and Mexico to provide dental care to underserved children. As a dental student, she was the recipient of the Presidential Service award for her dedication to community service and outreach. She was also awarded the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Predoctoral Student Award and was acknowledged by the American Association of Women Dentists for her academic excellence and outstanding leadership.
Dr. Correia completed her pediatric dental training at North Shore LIJ Hospital. She was named Chief Resident and was recognized as resident of the year in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry. She is currently a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Dental Association.
Dr. Correia loves tasting food from across the world, spending time outdoors, and curling up to a good movie. She is extremely excited to be moving to Central Florida and feels honored to provide dental care for children here!
Dr. John Smith earned his B.S. degree in Zoology from the University of Florida in 1971 and his D.D.S. degree in 1975 from Emory University. Graduating first in his dental class earned him the distinguished Alpha Omega Scholastic Award and membership into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Scholastic Society.
Perhaps the most notable achievement in Dr. Smith’s career came after he received his Master’s Degree in Orthodontics (M.S.D.) from the University of Washington. His graduate work in implantology gained him the coveted Milo Hellman International Research Award presented each year by the American Association of Orthodontists for the most outstanding orthodontic research.
Dr. Smith has lectured extensively throughout the world on many orthodontic topics. He has published numerous professional articles on various orthodontic appliance systems, practice management, improving staff relations and treatment protocols to improve the orthodontic process. As a consultant for Ormco, one of the world’s largest orthodontic manufacturing companies, he has been instrumental in the development of individualized computer designed braces and clear aligners to give patients a beautiful smile in less time and fewer office visits. That is something to smile about!
While away from the pediatric office, Dr. Smith enjoys spending time with his two grown children and two grandchildren. His hobbies include exercising, fishing, traveling and reading.
